2009 Family Camp
July
19-25, 2009
We are pleased to have Rev. Dan Beaulieu serving as Evangelist and Bible teacher for both our adult and youth camps for 2009. Born in 1952, Dan was one of five children. He was a teenager in the 1960’s, and found himself part of the “hippie generation,” complete with drug abuse and rebellion. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy Reserves. In his second year of active duty he had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ on the Guantanamo Naval Base in Cuba. When his military service was completed, like many others of that era, he returned home to an environment that was not supportive of his new lifestyle of serving the Lord. In his bio, Rev. Dan says, “I desired with all of my heart to be in His perfect will. Pinecrest Bible Training Center in upstate New York became my new home for three years. It was there that 1 met my wife Joan. The six years following were filled with life changing events as we moved to White Plains, New York, and had three children in thirteen months, twin daughters named Jessica and Sarah and a son named Luke. At the age of thirty-four, I answered the call to full time ministry in a suburb of New York City. We pastored in Long Island for almost twelve years during which we saw the blessing of the Lord upon our family and the church that we pioneered.” After all three children graduated from high school, the Beaulieu’s took a year’s sabbatical from ministry, and joined Pinecrest Bible School’s faculty. Dan lead a missionary trip to Bulgaria with eight students including Colby Frankland. (Colby and his wife, Vivian, were our Youth Camp Evangelists the past two years.) Dan and Joan presently are pioneering a church in the northwest corner of Connecticut. Says Dan, “The main thrust of what we do is to equip the Body of Christ to do the work of the ministry and to restore many to a passionate desire for our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Our Music Worship Team
Layhill Youth Band is a multi-talented praise and worship team dedicated to lively musical expression of the Christian faith. Under the leadership of Dana Shorb II, they feature well-known songs by popular Christian artists as well as creative renditions of more traditional worship songs and hymns. They will recharge your spiritual batteries and inspire you to walk a deeper path with Christ. We are privileged to welcome a new generation as they lead us in the name of Jesus.
Our Missionary Representative
Mrs. Anna Young, Maryland-Virginia Conference WMI President, will facilitate a daily Bible study for adults from 10-11 a.m. She will also present age appropriate information about missionary adventures during the Kidz Camp and lead a missions class for teens. Each evening we will be privileged to hear a Missions Brief during worship. Please stop by her display table for further information and to discover relevant opportunities for each of us to participate in personal ways to support our missionaries.
Our New Camp Cook
We heartily welcome Rochelle Graf of Columbia, Maryland, and a member of Spencerville Free Methodist Church, as our new Camp Head Cook. Rochelle has been involved in cooking for groups of all sizes for over 20 years. She also has talents in decorating and crafts. She is enthusiastic about making our dining experiences extra special. Also, we welcome her kitchen staff who provide invaluable assistance in getting meals ready, served up on time, and who help keep the food service running smoothly. Everyone is encouraged to eat in the dining hall.
