Dates for Family Camp are: July 13 - July 20, 2008 This year Pastor Mark Van Valin will be the guest speaker at Family Camp. As a pastor at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church, Pastor Mark Van Valin with his wife, Linda, enjoys preaching, teaching, and seeing God work through people to extend his Kingdom. He was a youth speaker for IYC in 2003. Each year around the 2nd week in July, the Free Methodist Churches in Maryland and Virginia host camp meeting at the Peach Orchard Christian Retreat Facility. For over 75 years families have attended camp meeting for a time of fun, family, and spiritual renewal. Many of our buildings although historic are still being used for dining, evening church services, and overnight lodging. The Dining Hall is centrally located for easy access to the Retreat Facility and Tabernacle areas. Three meals a day are cooked and served in the Dining Hall. Our Open Air Tabernacle is located in the center of our horseshoe shaped campground, and each evening Family Worship is held. All of our camps (Family, Youth and Kidz) are open to the community.
We are committed to embracing God, striving to be an authentic Christian community that will attract all generations, diligently safeguard our Free Methodist history, yet be bold in seeking God's will for our future. Come, you'll be welcomed at the Peach Orchard Christian Retreat Center and Historic Campgrounds.
Dates for Kids Camp are: July 14 - July 19, 2008 We are excited that for the 3rd year, our Kidz Camp Director will be LeAnne Johnson. Staffed with wonderful and dedicated volunteers, our Kidz camp program lasts for 5 days starting Monday and lasting to Friday. Each day from 9am - 3pm our kidz are kept busy with great classes, fun games, new friends and Bible stories that they will remember for years! Beginners Bible class, for 3-5 year olds is held from 9am to 12:30pm. Parents must pick up their 3-4 year olds immediately following lunch. Kindergarteners then join the 1st-4th graders for afternoon activities. K-4th graders have a full day at camp starting at 9am with morning Chapel, Bible stories, hand chimes and object lessons. After lunch, Monday thru Thursday, our 5th and 6th graders leave for their "off grounds" activities which include swimming, putt-putt golf, go-kart rides, ice cream social and lots more (Activities vary from year to year). K-4th graders stay on the grounds and participate in crafts, water and other games, and afternoon chapel. Thursday evening your children perform during Family Camp Worship with singing, signing and playing on their hand chimes. During their performance a slide show of some of the weeks fun is shown. Friday's schedule is shortened to make time for our special afternoon events and our last PM chapel where a slide show of all of the pictures taken during the week are shown.
Dates for Youth Camp are: July 13 - July 19, 2008 Youth Camp lasts 6 days and nights starting Sunday after registration and lasting to Saturday after breakfast. This week is filled with Dynamic Worship, Cool Music, and off Campus events. A special Youth speaker is invited to lead Bible studies, and group discussion. Some of the fun events that the youth will participate in are a talent show, Rededication service, a day at Six Flags, swimming, and tons more...(events may vary from year to year). Most evenings the youth attend evening services with the adult, and children campers to make for a special evening of family style worship. This is an overnight camp, and the youth are housed in the Retreat Center dorms, Cabin #1 and in the bunkhouse. Space is limited and pre-registration is requested.
